Tapping into the possibilities of a new audience when I just saw our blog listed in the WAPPA newsletter, we would like to make an unapologetic plug to help raise awareness and funds for a global project our studnets are engaged in with Microsoft and TakingITGlobal on DeforestAction. DeforestACTION is a global movement of youth and schools taking action to stop deforestation and create a permanent habitat for orang-utans and other species that depend on forest ecosystems. The project is initially focussing on the forests of Indonesia, where widespread illegal deforestation has made the country the number three emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world.
Please go to this site and join the cause and / or donate funds to help save the orangutans through http://dfa.tigweb.org/hub/benonnet. By donating through this site you also support our school and Benjamin Nobi our action agent in Ghana, Africa who is linked to our school.
To read more about the project go to the project home page at http://dfa.tigweb.org/ or watch willie smits at TED TALKS
If you are interested in joining the cause with your students go to the teachers
