Building networks for early years learning

week 6, term 2, 2011

This week our Deputy, Sue and the ECE team facilitated a district network day with staff from most of the Geraldton Schools Network attending. Our library was a great setting to display and share and access technologies for staff to share. We had 40 staff in all who came to listen to and share their own experiences. At the beginning of the day Waggrakine shared our focus on global issues promoting both the early childhood children’s and teachers high levels of interest and participation in the deforestAction project and the following of our adopted orangutan Ruthie! The early childhood ‘Ruthie’ backpacks going home in each of the K-3 classrooms have been a great success.

Staff also had a look at some of the many technologies the students are using to enhance and stimulate the curriculum. We looked at handwriting, writing samples, speech and OT needs, moderation between schools for reporting through to the National Curriculum and new directions in early childhood.
